I recently purchased a new makeup bag as it was desperately needed. I couldn’t handle how used and abused my old bag became + it was totally outdated for me.
Hubs, bubs, and I were out shopping the other evening and the boys scored and I was left empty handed; I have a hard time shopping when I’m with others, ha. I need to concentrate! ANYWAY. In the checkout line, I came across a super sweet makeup bag + it totally inspired me to go through my makeup and ditch the old stuff (that truthfully should’ve been thrown out forever ago!) and organize! It was a mini purge + a big spring cleaning of products will be done soon (note: always make sure to dispose of products safely + in the most environmentally-friendly way!).
So. Here is what I currently have in my makeup bag:
Cover FX oil free foundation in N20; this feels pretty light on my face but I feel like I have to re-apply more than I want to.
Cover FX cream foundation in N20; I use this one as a cover up for pesky pimples and crazy redness, you know, the most attractive things!
Eyelash curler; I haven’t used one in years and recently started using it again + I’m into it. Plus George thinks it’s funny when I use it!
L’Oreal Million Lashes Mascara in blackest black; I love the brush on this one but am also LOVING this mascara!
MAC eyeshadow in Wedge; I use this on my eyelids most days.
STILA stunning in sayulita kit; the prettiest bronzer is in this pack! This little kit has been discontinued, unfortunately.
Cover FX bronzer; I’m actually on the hunt for a lighter more shimmery one for the summer!
Liquid eyeliner; I use this one but it’s not my favourite; dries out really fast. I’m a huge fan of this one.
Annabelle black pencil eyeliner; because most days I just want a little eye defining + no dramatic liquid!
Joe Fresh eyebrow tint; I bought this because I wanted to try it out + was fairly convinced it wasn’t going to be a go BUT I’m happy to report, it works! I like it but I don’t LOVE it as I do find there is too much product on the wand right away. I usually scrape most product off the brush so I’m not rocking dark and super thick caterpillars. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect eyebrow filler/colour/tint.
Blush; I love this MAC one + this Buxom one!
Tarte cream blush; now that the weather is getting warmer + summer is around the corner, I’m super into dewy, glowing skin and peachy corals! Can it be summer now?!! Please!
EOS balm; my favourite is the strawberry. I brought this flavour on our honeymoon to Cabo (almost three years ago!) and when I use it, I am totally transported back to that beautiful, sunny, and wonderful time of our lives! Oh, and it totally keeps my lips moisturized + the packaging is so cute.
Maybelline Dream Lumi Highlighting Concealer; I’m holding out for YSL Touche Eclat because this mama needs some brightening up in her face BUT I thought I’d give this a whirl. It’s helpful and give the skin under my eyes a little bright boost but it’s no YSL.
Lipstick; I never used to be a lipstick gal but I am super into them lately (my current favs are this one, this one and this one) and I’m super into Nars Heatwave! The only downside is the amount of wipes I use daily to get my smooches off of my son’s face (because we all know I’m not going to hold off on kissing/biting his cheeks!). I usually pair my lipsticks with a liner (obviously, liners change with the shade of lipstick I’m rocking but this one is my very favourite lately!).
Baby Lips; I use this on the daily as I really try not to get too much makeup on my little man (it’s not the best for his skin and baby smooches need to happen all day err’ day!) but baby lips not only moisturizes, but it has an SPF AND a slight hue. This one is my favourite!
Avene Eau thermale; you know that feeling when you have your makeup on but jump in the shower to rinse off and then your makeup is extra dewy and misted when you get out? This spray does that for me. I literally will hold it away from my face once my makeup is done (not too close, obvi) and then boom! Also, really great right after you moisturize. And on airplanes!
GIVENCHY very irresistible purse-size perfume bottle; I don’t wear a lot of perfume these days as it’s a little overpowering for me and the dude BUT there sometimes calls for a little spritz + I really like the smell of this classic floral perfume.
I didn’t include my many makeup brushes but the appropriate ones for the above makeup travel with me but otherwise sit in a cute jar in my bathroom!
I have a few holes in my makeup bag that I’m in the process of filing up (bb cream, cc cream, eye cream, and sunscreen!)
I’m on the hunt for a perfect face SPF that is lightweight but does the job (and doesn’t cause breakouts, because hello adult acne, ugh)! Having a good sunscreen is SO important, you guys! Any favs that you have?!
Oh, and I am in desperate need of a beauty blender sponge. If you’re following me on snapchat (@hollybowmanxo), you’ve probably seen a brief snap of a sponge I purchased at the drugstore that claimed to help with streak-free application of foundation. HAHAHA. It was a disaster. It was so streaky + it absorbed so much product. The worst. I’m gonna splurge on the good stuff because, it’s my face. And streaks are gross. That’s my lesson on saving on a beauty blender sponge. JUST BUY IT! You’re welcome.
As I’m gearing up for a big spring cleaning/purge, some of my makeup items will be kicked to the curb and I’m curious, do you have any beauty products that you can’t live without?! Let me know in the comments below!
XO

24 hour Revlon Colorstay foundation has been a LIFE CHANGER for me, and my adult acne. P Thanks, genes. For combination to oily skin. Honestly, the best. Cover girl loose powder is light! And clarins instant light complexion perfector is expensive but the best highlighter ever.
