Our weekend was a whirlwind. And it was lovely.
Really early on Friday morning (like, so early that I had to wake little dude up!), George and I took the train to Ottawa to spend a few days with my sister, my brother-in-law, my niece Aria, and my newest little twelve day old niece Penny (Aaron drove up Saturday morning!).
PS. If you’re following me over on Instagram (@hollybowmanxo), you will have seen a few pics + a couple of videos on my IG stories from our weekend.
George absolutely loved the train! We took the train around the same time last year but this trip was so very different than it was when GBB was an itty bitty 7 month old. George was in awe + made it known to all the other passengers with his wild “choo choos”, giggles, and “wowwwwws”. He is becoming quite a traveler, and a great one at that.
The little cousins were so excited to see each other. Aria + George played, ate timbits, and generally had a really wonderful time being little goofballs. It was really nice to watch them play together (and walk holding hands!! Ahh! My heart still can’t take it!). And not only were they adorable but the newest addition to the family is simply scrumptious. A little darling of a potato.
You guys, there is nothing I love more than cuddles with newborns. She was so little and delicious and she smelled like heaven. My ovaries hurt just thinking about her; you can imagine how they felt when I was holding + loving on her, ha. George was into his little cousin from afar and when I was holding her, he wasn’t super into it (hashtag not into it at all slash jealous toddler alert) but I know that he’ll come around. He did rub her head gently and call her “babieeee”, so that’s a win for sure.
On Saturday, we celebrated Aria’s third birthday (which is today! Happy Birthday you goofy girl, you!) with family, friends, and cake. Sadie (and Pat) did a great job on the cake + Aria lost her noodle when she saw the gigantic Chase balloon that her daddy picked out for her (Paw Patrol for the win!). Aria was showered with some seriously awesome gifts (shout out to the Fur Real cat that eats treats + then poops them out; the kids went bananas for it, ha!) and giggled and ran around and was her usual hilarious, sassy, and adorable self.
Because my sis + I don’t live super close, I am really glad that we make it a priority to bring the kids together for birthdays. Even though the trip was short (and sweet), I think it’s important to continue to create those memories + who doesn’t like watching a three year old “show” her little cousin how to play with certain toys and call him “buddy”?! And let’s not get started on how adorable it is to watch her nibble a timbit or two…Aria is quite the character!

I hope you all have a wonderful + productive week!
