^It was so hard to get this picture…he was on the move, hard.
Aaaaand he’s ONE!
George Bear Bowman is twelve months old + it all happened so dang fast.
This past month has been a whirlwind and GBB has literally grown in the blink of an eye. Not only does he get off the couch feet first (which by the way, I totally teared up when this first happened and hubs + I were just looking at each other beaming with pride! It was so cool to see him do something that we have been teaching him!), clap, dance (also known as swagging hard all over the place), wave, point, and crawl, but he has been starting to stand independently + he took his first steps a few days ago!
Life is gonna get busier!
George has been rocking out the solo naps and plays independently more and more. He is super into cords, tupperware, keys, cellphones, outlets, and the floor grates. You know, all the typical baby stuff. Toys? What toys? He doesn’t need or want the ones that I set out for him every morning. Sigh.
Our little dude is curious and cheeky, smiley, and so dang happy. He brightens up any room he is in, especially with the mean mug he gives when he’s silently observing the room (he is his daddy’s twin!) and then he breaks out in a toothy grin + will start chatting up a storm like a ham (just like his mama!).
GBB brings so much joy to those around him and I love it! He just beams happiness all over the place.
He is wearing size 12 months in clothes and size 4 diapers still + with this Toronto heat, he mostly just chills in his diaper. This is also extremely helpful as every meal time, there is food all over. I find myself trying to do the math of how much food actually went in his mouth.
He is loving solid foods and we’re definitely making progress with trying new foods + textures. George currently loves watermelon, peas, fish, cheese, croissants, blueberries, broccoli, Cheerios, and mum mums. He has started to show interest in avocado again, which I’m thrilled about. Because, guac.
I’m working on getting more food ideas for him (please share in the comments below! I wanna know what your little ones love to munch on!) and I am so very proud of his hearty appetite.
George is still nursing when he wants to but because he’s a busier little bee these days, the nursing sessions are more spaced apart; not always, but some days. I’m proud of our breastfeeding journey–I can’t believe we made it to ONE year + I know we both aren’t ready to wean just yet.
You, my little bear cub, LOVE: nursing, dancing, smiling, playing with daddy, bouncing balls + playing catch, driving around in your Dino Coupe, splashing around with your water table, chasing the cat, hiding things behind the couch, giggling, attempting to get into the toilet/certain cupboards, eating things you shouldn’t (wood, toilet paper, pebbles…the list goes on), drinking out of mommy + daddy’s cups, your stuffie Dougie, reading/throwing books, clapping, crawling around, standing, saying “no no”, “lahhhd gawwwwd”, “mama”, “dada”, and “ball”.
You, my little chubba chub, DO NOT LOVE: Long car rides/being in the back of the car/car seat (yes, still), having your diaper changed (you little wiggly butt!), having mommy or daddy remove things from your mouth (wood, toilet paper, pebbles…), and not being able to play in the toilet/certain cupboards.
This past year has taught me more than I can even put into words. It has been the most challenging, the most beautiful, the most purposeful, and the most humbling year of my life.
Thank you George for being such a cool dude and my very best friend. I am so grateful that we have had this year to cuddle long and hard, and play, and learn, and grow together. It has been an honour and I can’t wait to see what this next year brings.
I want nothing but the very best for you and I love you with everything I have and more. There are no words to fully express how deeply you have moved me but know that I am yours forever.
Happy First Birthday George Bear! I love you.
XO
