Happy 1/2 Birthday to my sweet darling boy!
I know I say it every month but time is flying! To think that it has been six months since the arrival of GBB, holy moly you guys, it blows my mind. How did half a year go by so damn fast?! Cue mama freak-out.
George has grown so incredibly much this past month. He has become the ultimate jolly jumper (his form is on fleek), has popped two teeth (the cutest teeth I have ever freakin seen + they only caused him a wee bit of fussiness and pain thank goodness!), tried a few nibbles of sweet potato (you can read all about that here), and sits up unassisted! We’ve transitioned him to a bigger BIG boy car seat (with an insert cuz he is still sorta mini!), his BIG boy stroller bucket, and he has a high chair!
Honestly, what the what!? I don’t know if I’m ready for all this, ha.
I’ve also taken apart his crib (well, actually, hubs did!) and created a Montessori floor bed in his room. As you all probably know, I had been trying (unsuccessfully) to get George to nap not on my person and in his crib…and that wasn’t happening.
Then, I gave up + was totally handled on napping with him cuddled on me.
Now, GBB wants more space. He will fall asleep on me but toss + turn and want to stretch-out.
So.
I decided it was time to help teach him to nap alone and that’s where the floor bed comes in. I am able to put him down and if needed (which it totally is right now) nurse him to sleep while laying beside him. When he is good + comforted and sleeping, I roll away. Boom!
It’s a work in progress for sure but I am loving this. My sister introduced me to this, as she has been doing this with my niece since forever + I love it. I have baby-proofed his nursery as much as I have to at the moment…I mean, we don’t have a crawler + he’s really into the side half-roll, so no fear of him really adventuring anywhere. I’ve been doing a lot of reading on Montessori floor beds and have been having the greatest time on Pinterest. So many cute beds and nurseries! A whole post on this soon, promise.
ANYWAY.
George Bear Bowman is S I X months old + I couldn’t be more proud of the little dude. His personality shines through more each and every day + I will never get over how much my heart soars when he gives me his toothy grins and giggles non-stop for minutes at a time. Or when he is sitting up on his own + coo-ing/drooling/chewing on his stacking cups or truck squishies. The way his little palms make their way to my face when he wants to slobber kiss me/eat my cheeks (it’s only fair seeing as I eat his on the daily!) and the dimples on the back of his hands get deeper every day. He is scrumptious.
He is still wearing size three diapers + I wish I could say he is always wearing the cutest put together outfits but we spend a lot of our days in one-piece jammies (they’re super warm + cute!) in size 6 months (and sometimes 9 months!). His hair is really starting to grow in + it looks like he will be a blondie, which I sort of expected. His big blue eyes are always smiling. George has such a twinkle in his eye + is always so happy! I LOVE HIM.
He handled the popping of his first two teeth like a complete champ! There was only one night where he was super unimpressed (and in a wee bit of pain!) with the whole thing + spent the entire evening cuddled up to me (which I didn’t mind the extra snuggly cuddles, obvi).
You, my sweet bear cub, love: nursing (it’s one of mama’s favourite things too!), bath time (although you’re getting mighty big for the tub we have for you!), hulk-smashing your stacking cups, drooling + chewing everything, giggling, cuddling daddy, trying new foods, jumping in your jolly jumper, reading books/eating books, staring at/grabbing at the cat, walks outside, hugs and kisses, and cuddles galore!
You, my darling chubba chub, do not love: waiting for food and being tired in your car seat.
George Bear, the light of my life. I will say it over and over again but you, my sweet boy, are the most amazing person I have ever met. You are my very best friend + you are the sweetest soul. Thank you so much for choosing me to be your mommy. Your daddy and I love you so.
XO
PS. Look at how sweet George is with his adorable bestie Apollo! These boys are only one month + two days apart (Apollo is a June baby!). Also, their shirts are great (and full of drool).
