Before we get into these precious books, I want to wish y’all a very very Happy New Year! I have a post coming all about goals, resolutions, and my word of the year. I know, totally out of order but I couldn’t wait to share these amazing books.
It’s no secret that I have a very strong love for children’s books + I have been getting so much joy from collecting gorgeous books for my kids to celebrate the seasons + holidays we’re in. It’s so much fun and they really look forward to the book change-out! It also really makes reading time exciting + not stale. Anddddd I know you mamas (and daddies!) feel me when I say that reading the same book over and over and over again can be a little…much. I mean, we do it but like, we wanna read something else, amiright!?
SO.
I created a shelfie of these books (and a few decorative accents!) as they are much more delicate + we are very intentional about reading time with them. My kids also have a ton of other books to grab whenever they want to read as it is a huge motherhood goal of mine to really cultivate a love of reading–I am thrilled my mom did that for my sister and I. Speaking of which, one of my goals for 2020 is to read for pleasureeeeeee! Who’s with me!?
ANYWAY.
I am teaching George and Eloise to be gentle with these books and they’re pretty good; maybe I should state that George can be/is delicate with them + Ellie is…learning. HASHTAG RIPS EVERYTHING.
I don’t want anything in my home to be too precious but I think ensuring that we are taking good care of our things/books is not a bad lesson to learn. Plus, I envision passing these along to my grandchildren (although this concept seems wayyyyy too far away + I’m okay with that!).
I’ve rounded up a few of our favourite Valentine’s Day books including three new ones this year that are on their way to us + I couldn’t be more excited! I’ll likely add them to the shelf before Valentine’s Day and I just know that George can’t wait to get his eyes and hands on the robot book…it’s so fun to add a few every year. We will have a tremendous book wall for years + years to come.
I’ve also made it totally easy for you–if you like a book or two, just click on the link + it’ll bring you right to it!
Bloom – $20.79
What they say: Here is the life of iconic fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, who as a little girl in Rome, was told by her own mamma that she was brutta. Ugly. So she decided to seek out beauty around her, and found it everywhere. What is beauty? Elsa wondered. She looked everywhere for beauty until something inside of Elsa blossomed, and she became an artist with an incredible imagination. Defining beauty on her own creative terms, Schiaparelli worked hard to develop her designs, and eventually bloomed into an extraordinary talent who dreamed up the most wonderful dresses, hats, shoes and jewelry. Why not a shoe for a hat? Why not a dress with drawers? And she invented a colour: shocking pink! Her adventurous mind was the key to her happiness and success–and is still seen today in her legacy of wild imagination. Daring and different, Elsa Schiaparelli used art to make fashion, and it was quite marvellous.
