The weather is getting nicer + I am much more motivated to be back to my super multi-tasking busy self! Don’t get me wrong, George keeps me pretty busy all day err’ day but I have been thinking a lot about activities and new things I can get involved in. Seeing as I am home with the little dude, I figure it is the perfect time to start some new hobbies + see if any stick!
I’ve created a hobby list and I am hoping to get them all checked off before 2016 is dunzo.
- Gardening. This is the first time since moving to Toronto (I moved here in 2007 from my hometown of Ottawa, Canada’s capital!) that I have gardens and a backyard! Aaron is pretty excited to pimp our backyard out this summer with a new BBQ and I’m thrilled about patio furniture + garlands of edison bulb lights but we are both eager to have a whole lot of greenery surrounding us. We’re lucky our yard is so big; it is much larger than we expected as it is very rare to have a backyard this large in TO. Anyway. I’m going to create a vegetable garden because there is nothing more delicious than homegrown veggies + I am excited to teach George all about plants and how they grow! I’m going to get him some gardening tools too so he can help mama ;)
- Cooking + Baking. I say I’m going to get really good at these all the time and I’m pretty sure it is always one of my goals at the beginning of the year but dang it, this is going to be the year y’all. Plus I’ll have all those fresh homegrown veggies to cook up + I really want to make some delicious 100% homemade pies.
- Canning + Jam Making. Similar to cooking, I’ve been wanting to do this every summer but this will be the perfect summer to really get down and do it. Hubs and I will definitely be taking our little dude to pick strawberries + there are some really lovely farmers markets all over the city and I know I’ll be snatching up some fresh raspberries and trying my hand at raspberry jam. Oh, and pickles. I want to pickle pickles. Pickle.
- Yoga. I’ve been saying this since GBB was born. I literally love doing yoga because it feels so flippin’ good but I haven’t found the time/made the time to get my downward dog on. So, first things first, I need a new mat. I have the Yoga Studio app on my phone and I love it, I did manage to do a quick 10 relaxation yoga video the other day…but truthfully, I need to spend time actually doing it. And, I also think taking a class outside of the house will be great for me; adult conversation…even though I doubt there’s much talking in the classes…anyway. My body/knees are busted up from pregnancy and baby wearing…I need to do this.
- Videos. Now, this is something I am newly considering but am super interested in. I take a lot of video footage of George + I am currently creating his “one year” video to play at his birthday in July (eeeeeee!) and have been having a freakin’ blast doing it. Hubs and I talked about it and it’s definitely possible that HBXO may have some videos/mini films/vlogs in the future…what do you think?!
- Essential Oils. I doubt those who rock the EOs would consider them a hobby + I’m sure the more I educate myself on them, my mind will be changed but for now, I’m keeping it under my hobby list. I love love love the smell of the essential oils I currently have but I am really interested in having a few more diffusers throughout the house + utilize them in our home/family life. There is nothing more relaxing than lavender #amiright?!
Along with the above hobbies, I am working on getting my wedding photos printed (finally, it’s only been three years…) and some family photos printed + get our gallery wall started! Our home really needs a spring cleaning + new decor/furnishings. I was thinking of adding that to my hobby list but realized, that just needs to get done no matter what. I was also going to add online shopping but…again, just needs to happen.
Do you have any hobbies that are the best and you think I could manage it? Ha. Seriously. If so, let me know in the comments below! I am sooooooo open to hearing about fun activities and hobbies that y’all like to participate in + I love being inspired so help a sister out ;)

Great blogs Holly! You should check out Yoga with Adriene on YouTube. She’s got lots of free yoga videos and a 30 days of Yoga program and Yoga Camp! She’s a fellow actor and is super quirky and fun. :)
