Tis the season, you guys! Happy happy December! Apologies for being MIA these last two weeks, it’s been hella-busy over at the Bowman household because WE MOVED! That’s right. Buh-bye apartment life + hello house! We couldn’t be more thrilled. My life already feels changed.
We moved last Saturday + there is nothing more exciting than unpacking and getting to decorate a new space. Especially when I get to spend my days decorating for the most wonderful time of the year! Cue all the Christmas music.
The Christmas holidays always go by so quickly + this year being GBB’s first Christmas, there are many things I want to do and enjoy. I want to savour every second because I know how magical this first Christmas with him will be. Ugh, I can’t even handle my excitement.
Honestly, if I spend this whole month in Christmas jammies, cuddling George, eating Ferrero Rocher chocolates (+ clementines!), and watching Christmas movies every damn day than this will beat all Christmases ever. I mean it.
I have a fun + festive Christmas holiday “bucket list”/new family tradition list to get y’all in the holiday spirit! Eeee! Enjoy!
Christmas Holiday Bucket List (in no particular order):
-make an advent calendar counting down the sleeps ’til Santa (next year, it will be little boxes of treats + activities!)
-buy a holiday puzzle (not toooooooo difficult) + try and finish it before NYE (I totally see hubs and I staying up late tackling it/arguing about it/laughing/giving up)
-watch a Christmas movie every day in December (National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is my favourite with Home Alone 1 + 2 , Elf, The Santa Clause [reminds me of my sister + dad!], and Rudolph close behind!)
-listen + dance to Christmas music every day in December (I have a great playlist that I’ll share in a later post!)
-create Christmas Eve Boxes; one for the family (which includes a new board game, movie + snacks/this year’s movie is Polar Express and I’m still unsure of what board game we must have–any suggestions?) and one for GBB (which includes Christmas jammies + a new book!)
-host a Christmas Open House on the last Sunday right before Christmas + have friends and family pop by for a visit/to enjoy holiday treats/cuddle George
-bake holiday sweets like a maniac (honestly, I can’t stop pinning sweet treats that I want to bake but seeing as I have been doing a Whole30 [today is actually my day 30! go me!], there was no way in hell I was going to start baking + not be able to taste even a bite of the deliciousness)
-enjoy Christmas Day dinner with my fabulous inlaws + sweet baby sister-in-laws (and if we play poker this year, win win win!)
-eat lots of Ferrero Rocher chocolates, Terry’s chocolate oranges, candy canes, Turtles, clementines, nuts, and pastries (yum yum yum!)
-drink eggnog (with rum and in moose mugs a la Clark Griswold!), hot apple cider, hot chocolate, and red wine (mmm!)
-put up Christmas lights and wreaths all over the house (finally!!!!!)
-pick out our tree + decorate it while dancing to Christmas tunes + cuddling GBB
-walk around the neighbourhood to see all the lights
-get a picture of GBB with Santa
-host a small friends Christmas dinner for our out of town besties
-go to the Toronto Christmas Market in the Distillery + go to the St. Lawrence Market for antiques
-make + eat festive pancakes
-introduce George to snow + build a snowman (I can’t wait to see his reaction to snow!)
-cuddle, cuddle, cuddle + giggle, giggle, giggle
-have a Godfather marathon on Boxing Day and finish it off with a good ol’ plate of spaghetti (with a side of red wine + chocolate, duh)
And I am pretty sure there are more traditions/activities I will discover in this magical month + please, please, please, share with me what your family does to celebrate the holidays! I’m fascinated by family traditions and seeing as it is our first, I’d love to be able to adopt a few more! Please leave them in the comments below! Yay!
Happy December my friends!
