^ Oh, George.
I have been waiting for this day since I was pregnant! George’s first Halloween trick or treating experience! And you gotta love Canadian Halloweens–always so chilly + so many layers!
Last year, GBB was an itty bitty three months old + we celebrated all Hallow’s Eve at a wedding for our dear friends (which was a blast!). This year, I was super excited for a family costume + a good ol’ try at trick or treating!
Aaaaand I was thrilled that I finally convinced hubs that a family costume was the way to go! He was sold as soon as he saw the awesome lion mane I made him. Can we talk about how hilarious + amazing he looks?! What a sport.
I crafted our costumes (other than GBB’s bear hat–I had actually crafted bear ears for him but he wouldn’t wear them + the hat was wayyyyy easier to stay put!) with a whole bunch of felt and hot glue. The hot glue gun is my bestie this time of year!
As we were getting ourselves Halloween ready, we started getting our first little costumed friends at our door + you better believe I was yelling at Aaron “we’re missing it!!!”, ha. I was just too eager to get the trick or treating show on the road!
Luckily Uncle Jake was over to help hand out the candy while we were gone trick or treating…to the one house, haha!
Yep, you read that right.
We only made it to one house! And it only took us a lifetime to get to this one house and George was not really interested in it. He would shuffle along the sidewalk + stop in the middle of the big groups of costumed kids with his little index finger pointing at the pumpkins, puppies (or as he likes to call them ‘”ro-ro”s), or just about anything really.
When there were a few candies dropped in his pumpkin treat basket, he immediately got into a deep squat to examine his candies + clutch all three of them tightly in his little fist. It was hilarious.
Aaron said to me “best night of your life eh Hol?“, ha. It was so much work! But oh gosh, it was amazing. Just the excitement buzzing down our street, the sounds of kids giggling and shouting Happy Halloween + the bingeing on candy. I went a little overboard. I legit ate my body weight in Crispy Crunch bars…
ANYWAY.
Our Halloween was a fun-filled night of creating new memories that I know I will cherish forever. Holidays are just the best with children–even with littles who don’t want to get free candy.
XO

Such a great costume idea! You three look amazing and that lion mane is epic! Did you attach felt strips to an elastic that was worn around his face?

Thanks Merryn!I used a stretchy hair band from the Dollarama + hot glued felt ears and then cut strips of felt + tied them on the hair band. It was a little tight around Aaron’s face but he was a champ + committed to it XO
