2014. What a wonderful year it has been! I feel so blessed.
The year started off with a bang!
I started working on Champagne Hearts with my fellow bossbabe Alexandra. Our website was launched on Valentine`s Day and we have since been working on re-vamping and learning everything possible about business—how we want to work, logistics, and what we want to create. Our first website launch was one of the most amazing times in 2014 for me. I have never felt more accomplished and more proud of myself (and Alexandra, of course). I was finally doing something that made me happy. CH inspires me and will continue to do so. Our website is under construction but I am hopeful that it will be up, running, and even more exciting in 2015! I can’t wait.2014 brought me the most precious gift; my sweet niece Aria Marie. She was born March 6th at 7:10am, weighing in at 4lbs 15oz. I was fortunate enough to be by my sister’s side during the birth and honestly, it was the coolest thing I have ever witnessed; birth really is a miracle. Aria has changed my life. She really is the sweetest girl.
In April, I started and completed my very first Whole30 and it was an incredible journey. Never have I felt more proud and aware of my health. It was a blast—don’t get me wrong, it was a challenge but definitely something that I will be doing again. I just have to gear myself up for it. It was truly life-changing. I urge everyone to try and eat Whole30! Hubs and I traveled San Francisco-LA-Vegas-Arizona at the end of April and it was a wonderful trip! Not only was it fantastic to drive in our sweet rental Prius, take in some baseball, drive down the Pacific Coast Highway, and see the Grand Canyon, but we had the opportunity to celebrate one of our best friends’ 30th birthday in Vegas! You can read all about it here, it was a blast and a trip to remember. The summer was incredibly eventful and went by terribly fast. I am still missing summer. We spent a lot of off-time cottaging, relaxing, and drinking our body weight in palmbombs (half palm bay and half beer…delicious). Thinking about those summery drinks right now is making me DROOL.
August 9th, hubs and I celebrated our first year wedding anniversary. In true Bowman-style, we went to a Jays game and drank our faces off with $10 beers. It was the best. We finished the night off at one of my favourite spots, Bar Italia. We had our engagement party there, so I thought it fitting that we come back full circle and enjoy the delicious food and service at this sweet college street hot spot. The risotto is OFF THE HOOK.
The beginning of September brought me to Algonquin on an intense canoe trip with hubs and 4 of our dearest friends. I was a complete canoe camping/portaging virgin so it was an adventure. One, I might add, that I was incredibly enthusiastic about and enjoyed immensely (except for when the chipmunks ate ALL of the trail mix I made….). I think canoe camping is definitely in my future. Check it out here.
The fall brought so much wonderful change. I started working at Le Dolci Bakery and left my serving job for good; it happened so fast and it was a delight. I enjoyed my time at Montanas (and serving in general) but it was high time that I started to fulfill my creativity and passion for cake (eating it, mostly). Working at the bakery has been so much fun and I feel grateful that I enjoy my work and have fun every.single.day.
In October, I celebrated my 28th birthday in true 90`s style. Hit me baby one more time.
Hubs and I also moved down the hall into a much bigger and more updated apartment; one step closer to a house. Maybe 2015 will bring us a house? Our apartment is still very much a work in progress but I love it. It is large, spacious, and very much our lovenest.
We obviously decorated our place for Christmas, but Aaron and I traveled to Ottawa to celebrate Christmas with my family this year. It was so nice to be with family and celebrate Aria`s first Christmas! She was super cute (as per usual) and really interested in the wrapping paper. She is such a little nugget.
And the most exciting and happiest moment of 2014, is when I found out that our family was growing by two feet and a heartbeat! It was November 5th and I was feeling so nauseous. I figured it was all the cupcakes I was consuming at work on a daily basis…four tests later and it was VERY positive that a little baby bowman was present and our lives were about to change forever. I have never been more excited, nervous, anxious, and so utterly happy in my life. Hubs and I are thrilled to be growing our family and we just know that the best is yet to come! I will be posting how I surprised Aaron with the news and I will continue to blog throughout my preggo journey. Also, please note how sweet our first pair of little yeti shoes are! Obsessed.
2014 was the best year yet! I knew last NYE that 2014 would bring me much happiness, but never in a million years would I have guessed that it was going to be like this.
To think that 2015 is going to TOP 2014; wow, how lucky am I!?
