Melissa & Doug Chunky Puzzle// Playdoh Kit// Fire Engine Book// Bouncy Ball// Brown Bear Book// Melissa & Doug Latch Board// Magna Tiles
With George’s second birthday right around the corner (aka FRIDAY! eeee!), I thought I would compile a few gifts that I just know that he would go bananas for and I am fairly confident that other two year olds would have a blast with them too!
I’ve been holding out on getting new toys in the house + I rotate the toys we have pretty often. I don’t know about you, but when we have too many toys out, the toddler does not play with them. It becomes a tornado and it literally drives me insane.
Andddd I’m totally that mama who is interested in toys that are open-ended + can be used in many different ways! There is nothing more fun than watching George discover and explore a toy.
ANYWAY.
George has recently discovered puzzles and really, really enjoys them + there is nothing (and I mean, nothing) cuter than the determination on his face. He’s getting pretty quick with them too! Melissa & Doug is a brand I really enjoy + these chunky puzzles are the perfect fit for GBB’s little (but mighty!) fists.
Playdoh has become an absolute favourite for my little dude–he is obsessed. He calls it “pay-dot” and insists we make pizza, or as he calls it “see-tab” a kajilion times a day. I like this kit because it has many different cutters, scissors, and fun accessories that will not only keep GBB entertained for a while but it helps to encourage his creativity!
GBB is obsessed with all things firetruck + he will proudly yell ” WEOOOO- WEOOOO” at any dang hour of the day. I came across this board book and it is totally up his alley. As I briefly mentioned above, I like to rotate toys and I generally keep the toys that are played with easily accessible but when it comes to books, I can’t help myself. I want them all. I need them all. Andddd I like to have them on display and easy for George to grab in both the living room + his bedroom. ANYWAY. I think George will get a kick out of this book.
We love love love The Very Hungry Caterpillar and I am shocked that we don’t own Brown Bear, Brown Bear yet so I definitely think adding this to our library is a great idea. I can’t wait to read new books (anyone have children that insists on reading the same book over and over and over again?).
Dude has an arm on him. Like, for real. And he is obsessed with throwing balls, kicking balls, and running around with them. I have a bin full of balls of different shapes + sizes and I a cute bouncy ball such as this robot-themed one would get played with a ton.
Similar to the Melissa & Doug puzzles, I think George would get a kick out of these latch boards. He is very curious and interested in keys and locks (and he can easily pick the bathroom lock…which is a nightmare) + I think he would have a blast working on these boards. I can’t wait to see his sweet concentrated face when he works on them and then the loud “all done!” that he will surely yell. What a dude.
Lastly, the item that I am most excited about, are the Magna Tiles. Now, these are not cheap. BUT I think they are a complete investment. These tiles are magnetic + can build endless amounts of creations. I love how open-ended these tiles are and George had played with them at his friend Apollo’s house last month + really enjoyed them. I have been anxiously waiting to gift him these tiles and I sorta kinda totally cannot wait to sit on the floor + play with them for hours.
Do you have any tried and true toddler gifts? I’d love to hear all about them, please let me know in the comments below!
