I am still in post-fiesta cleaning/organizing mode over here. I can’t be the only one who drowns in party supplies for months after the party has come and gone. Please tell me I’m not the only one, haha.
Life has been crazy busy with George’s birthday party, family visits, starting work again, and summer trips, and trying to keep up with the house + every day things…phew! Just writing that makes me want to take a nap, bad.
GBB’s First Fiesta was a success! I was so excited about seeing our friends and family + celebrating a year with our favourite little dude. He had a great time. Even though he only had one nap that day…
My advice, don’t send out invites too far in advance because nap times change + having everyone arrive as you’re putting your 12 month old down for a nap is stressful. You better believe I was getting texts from Hubs “you need to come out here!” “people are arriving” “where is this _____?” “where is that _____?”. Lesson learned. Oh, and yeah, George didn’t end up napping at that time. Luckily for us, he is a really great overtired baby and held out like a champion (he definitely had a mini cat nap around 5pm).
Hubs and I did a lot of running around prepping for this party. I should actually mention that Hubs did almost all the running around. What a gem. He was up so early the day of the party picking up rentals, the cake, helium tank and balloons, making the food, and setting the food table.
My mom came into town the day before the party and was such a big help–wrangling the little dude so I could individually hang colourful streamers on the back wall of the house, repotting the centrepieces, weeding my gardens (she has a green thumb that I was seriously hoping would rub off on me…NEXT YEAR!), and always telling me how everything looked beautiful. Thanks mama.
Typically I am the one who styles the food and dessert tables, it’s kinda my thing, but holy moly, when you’re midst trying to get your baby to nap + people are starting to arrive…you kinda just let your husband throw a whole lotta limes in a plastic container and set it on the food table. And you kinda just let him put food in the most random mismatched containers + have zero aesthetic flow on the table and call it a day.
My inner stylist was screaming (and dying!) of course, but wow what a life lesson, ya know? HAHA.
No one noticed. Everyone had a wonderful time. My husband did everything (ugh, he’s the very best!). And I have the most amazing family and friends. So, that’s all that really matters! At the end of the day, my little family of three were surrounded by so many wonderful family members and friends and oh so much love. The piñata was incredible. The cake, cupcakes, and GBB’s smash mini cake were perfect, the beers were cold, and the tacos were deeeeelish. Oh, and all the littles who were running around the yard wearing mini sombreros and playing with one another, ugh, heart melting.
A few (haha, maybe more than a few…) photos from the afternoon (thank you Ali for taking these snaps!):^ Dude loves his Nudnik shirt!
^ GBB loves his auntie Emily!
^ I thought he would definitely hulk-smash his cake, but no. Thank you Le Dolci for his perfect cakes!
^ Auntie Emily + Cousin Aria were on hand to help with cake smashing.
^ Oh, Aria, you’re the cutest.
^ Uncle Jakey + GBB
^ Omg, his hair.
^ GBB’s bestie, Apollo.
^ My everything.
Oh, and a very BIG thank you to all our family and friends who came to celebrate George’s first fiesta + to all of you who sent us birthday messages and love, THANK YOU. It means the world to us.
XO
