April! How in the world did we get here?! But ugh, I am beyond excited to share this month’s Boss Babe because you guyssssss, it’s my little sis! Yep! My sis Sadie is pretty wicked + always has the VERY best ideas when it comes to children’s activities and she has inspired me over + over with fun and fulfilling tips and tricks with my own kiddos. I am lucky to have her in my life. I mean, obvi–she is my bestie. Okay. Y’all, meet my sis, Sadie. Eeeeee, I’m so dang excited.
Hey everyone!
I’m Sadie–Holly’s little sister! I’m super pumped that she asked me to be a Boss Babe this month! I love following this group and I’ve definitely gained some valuable insight along the way.
As for me, I’m an eclectic un-schooling mama of two, as well as an awesome wife ;). I love tea, singing, binge watching shows, pilates, cooking, reading, life long learning, taking baths, and learning about alternate forms of education.
I’m a former preschool teacher and my inner self feels most fulfilled when I’m creating a flexible blueprint for the culture in which to raise my children.
I love to provide my children with open ended sensorial experiences, lots of time for free play (something that I believe children are severely lacking in this day and age!), and a flexible routine. How we spend our day to day, is something I’m VERY passionate about and I’m constantly finding different sources of inspiration along the way.
This month I’m excited to share different tips and tricks about things in my life that set my soul on fire and help me to fulfill my purpose as a nurturing mother, and wife, while maintaining my sanity (mostly) and keeping it real, and simple.
Can’t wait to chat with you guys!

Anddd in true HBXO boss babe fashion, I asked Sadie the famous five questions + although I am her sis and know her pretty dang well, I really enjoyed her answers!
On a day that we are sticking around the house and not going to a playgroup, my morning looks like this:
I wake up around 6:30am, and head downstairs for a decaf coffee, and make breakfast for me and the kids.
During breakfast time, we do our morning basket – read alouds, songs, calendar time, weather, and we talk about what we want to do that day.
After breakfast, we do a table top activity such as playdoh, air dry/mess free clay, coloring, puzzles, stickers. Sometimes we go cuddle on the couch and read some more books or sometimes we do some yoga from our kids yoga book. All of this fills up their buckets and then I can get some stuff done while they free play!
I leave them to their imaginations and put away laundry, make the beds, tidy up the kitchen and get myself ready for the day. I also stretch or do simple pilates for around 20 minutes during this time. After this, the kids get ready and we get outside to jump in puddles, throw the ball around or just go for a walk. If no one is feeling morning outside play, we do some open ended art explorations, or sensory play! By 11/11:15 am we are usually inside and tidied up.I make lunch while they play. We all listen to an audio book while eating lunch at 11:30am, and then we ALL take naps at noon. MORNING COMPLETE.
Being a teenager was the WORST. It was such a hard time for me and I’m not proud of the decisions I made or the person that I was; but looking back I can see that I was just a child and a lot of my experiences were due to me trying to survive and run away from internal pain.
I would tell myself that regardless of all the crap you get yourself into, teenagehood does NOT define you. Things will get better, and you will find yourself again.
I would tell myself to STOP partying and doing drugs, stop shaving your eyebrows off (what’s up goth life!), and to not drop out of school. Truth be told, I wouldn’t have listened for one minute, ha. Sorry, mom!
When I’m in a funk, I want to be left alone. I typically want to escape to my bedroom with my laptop & headphones and a hot cup of tea, listen to music and read articles online. For me, it’s key to sit in the emotion and just BE, and allow myself to feel all the feels. I have the saddest playlist available if anyone needs a good cry HAHA But honestly, sweeping my feelings under the carpet and just continuing on like nothing is wrong is usually how I end up in a giant funk. Alone time fills my cup, and allows me to come up with a solve to whatever is bothering me. Usually a change needs to happen when I’m feeling low, so I like to do research and figure out what can be done to move forward. Making sure that I’m having ample time with my husband, my best friend, and my mom are ways that help keep my sanity at bay. When the balance is off, so am I.

VASELINE.
Ok, sounds super weird but I always have a little tub on hand. It’s perfect for my lips, any dry spots on my skin and I also like it to take off eye make up. Sometimes I even just sweep a bit across my eyelids to look fresh and dewy? I’ve heard that people in beauty pageants put Vaseline on their teeth to look shinier and smilier but I haven’t been in a beauty pageant yet so I don’t know if this works.
I’ve also been using Aveeno daily moisturizer for acne prone skin for over a decade and my skin really loves it.
Revlon Colorstay 24hrs Foundation is also the ONE make up must have for me. I always go back to it, I’m done with trying anything else.
Drug store makeup girl through and throuuuuugh.
Ughhhh I’m always so inspired by Sadie’s ideas for daytime routines for the kiddos. I swear, that’s what we talk about most. Now, I know that y’all are just itching to know more from Sadie + good news for you–she will be taking over the HBXO tribe every Wednesday of the month of April + sharing her heart with us. I can’t even freaking wait, so please, if you are not already a member of the tribe on FB, get your booty in there. I promise, you will want the info that she has to offer.
Sadie, thank you from the bottom of my heart for agreeing to be HBXO’s Boss Babe of the Month! I have been so antsy about having you featured because gosh, girl, you have loads of value to offer to the tribe + I am confident they’ll all eat it up (because I know I do!). You inspire me on the daily. You’re the best and I love youuuuuuu.
